Ed Seifert, a lifelong Morgantown resident, addressed City Council on Oct. 7 to describe plans for an unmanned micro‑market kiosk at the Morgantown Municipal Airport. The city moved the item from the consent agenda for discussion and then approved first reading of an ordinance permitting a commercial lease and operating agreement with 304 Ventures LLC.
Seifert said the kiosk will occupy a small triangular glass display area in the terminal (approximately 135 square feet including the display case) and will carry chilled beverages, snacks, small toiletries (toothbrushes, travel toothpaste), electronics accessories (phone chargers), and similar convenience items. He said the operation will be unmanned and will use a self‑service kiosk where customers scan items and pay electronically by debit, credit or mobile wallet; a camera will monitor the space.
Seifert acknowledged modest profit margins for the proposed product mix and said the operation will require monitoring and theft‑deterrence measures such as cameras and mirrors. He told council he expected the arrangement to add convenience and value for travelers arriving at the airport late at night.
Council moved to approve the first reading and recorded a 7–0 roll‑call vote in favor.
No additional conditions were added during the council discussion recorded in the meeting.
