Lake Barrington board to vote on appointment of Brenda as trustee; onboarding set

Lake Barrington Board of Trustees President Burke said the board will bring forward a vote tonight to appoint Brenda to a vacant trustee seat and that Brenda will begin orientation and onboarding with staff ahead of formal seating next month.

The appointment was introduced during the meeting’s agenda discussion. Brenda introduced herself and described moving to Lake Barrington from the North Shore. “I grew up on the North Shore and recently moved out here to Lake Barrington. And it is a paradise, and it has become a haven for me,” she said. She also said she came from a community where there had been a shooting three years earlier and that she now feels safe in Lake Barrington.

President Burke praised Brenda’s interest and said the board and staff will provide training before she takes the seat. “I think you’re going to make a great trustee and that you will bring passion and you will bring knowledge and wisdom and you will also bring curiosity,” Burke said. Burke said Brenda will start orientation and onboarding with Sharon Peterson and other staff and board members and that she will be formally seated next month.
