The Winnsboro Main Street Advisory Board voted to appoint Dawn Petty to the Main Street board after she introduced herself and described her local business ties.
Petty told the board she and her husband Jared operate multiple local businesses, including an RV park, a septic company and a property-management company, and that they own commercial buildings in downtown Winnsboro. "We have very strong roots in here in Winnsboro," she said, and added she wants to support opportunities that encourage young people to remain in town.
Board members made a motion to accept Petty's application; the motion received a second and was approved by voice vote with no opposition recorded. Board members noted that, if the board approves the appointment, the application would then be forwarded to the city council for its action that evening.
Petty said she is interested in encouraging small business ownership and supporting downtown business growth. The board welcomed her pending council approval.
