The Planning Commission's July 8, 2025, meeting was adjourned after staff said the five-member quorum required to take action had not been met and no votes could be held.
Planning Commission staff told attendees that the meeting had been scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. but that it was 7:39 p.m. when the lack of a quorum was confirmed. “As you can see, we don't have a quorum tonight. We need 5 people up here before we can do any action, before we have a vote of any sort,” the staff member said.
The staff member said commissioners would wait until 7:45 p.m. to see if additional members arrived. When the quorum was not achieved, the staff member closed the meeting: “I will just simply close the meeting at this point in time. It's unfortunate we didn't get a quorum this evening... Meeting adjourned.”
Because the commission could not act, no motions were moved, seconded, or voted on and the items on the agenda were deferred. The staff member asked applicants and attendees to review the packet and consider any revisions requested in staff memos ahead of the next meeting. “Anybody, I guess, if you wanna read the packet and provide any of the upgrades to your plans or whatever based on our memos, that would be helpful for you to do in the next week,” the staff member said.
An attendee commented aloud during the wait; the staff member noted the remark, saying, “Mister Harwell told jokes meanwhile.”
The commission did not take formal action on any agenda items. Staff said the matters on the docket will be considered at the commission's next scheduled meeting in two weeks.
