The Wilsonville Planning Commission heard an announcement Oct. 8 that Planning Manager Dan Pauley has resigned and will move out of state; Pauley said his last day will be Halloween. The announcement was presented as an informational item near the end of the meeting.
The planning director told the commission that Pauley has worked with the city for more than 17 years and has served in nearly every position in the planning division. The director credited Pauley with writing substantial portions of Wilsonville’s code, guiding development approvals, supporting parks construction oversight, helping produce housing reports and advising staff on industrial land readiness projects.
Several commissioners and staff shared remarks at the meeting, praising Pauley’s calm leadership, institutional knowledge and mentorship of junior planners. One staff member noted Pauley’s facility with data and spreadsheets and recounted his long service starting as an intern. Pauley accepted the recognition and said he had originally planned to stay in Wilsonville only two years after graduate school but that he was glad to have remained.
At the meeting Pauley also shared lighter remarks and photos from planning division events, and staff noted a few of his personal interests (including baking). The planning director asked commissioners and staff to acknowledge his role in the city’s recent work on planning efforts including updates to residential code and middle‑housing standards.
No formal action was taken; the announcement was informational. Commissioners and staff indicated they will follow standard staffing and recruitment processes to fill Pauley’s position and will continue the projects he has been supporting.
