Boone County Schools honors custodian Tony Horton; Boone County Business Association presents donation to district programs

Horton told the board, "It's never about me. It's always about the kids," and thanked staff and the community in brief remarks.
Separately, representatives of the Boone County Business Association (BCBA) presented a check to the district to support alternative education programs run in conjunction with Potter's Ranch and to provide cold-weather gear for children in need. Administrators said the BCBA’s annual golf outing and other sponsorships fund the donation and that the partnership provides resources and opportunities that would not otherwise exist for some students.
The board applauded Horton and thanked the BCBA for its partnership. No formal policy or budget action resulted from the recognitions.
What’s next: district staff will incorporate the BCBA contribution into program support as appropriate and continue partnerships that supply materials and student supports.
