The Nevada City Council approved the planning-and-zoning commission’s recommendation to accept the site plan for a new Casey’s General Store at 519.
Councilmembers asked whether the project was a full teardown and whether the company planned to close any existing stores in town. Staff said the development appears to be a complete rebuild and that Casey’s plans to close the Lincoln Way store and remove its underground fuel tanks; staff did not know the retailer’s plans for the vacated building.
The site-plan approval passed by voice vote during the meeting. Staff said they had asked the developer to remove the tanks at the Lincoln Way site and to bring the new site into compliance with applicable codes and insurance requirements.
