The Nevada City Council on Tuesday accepted Division 2 of the Nineteenth Street Trail Project as complete, approved a contractor payment and released retainage, and approved a small amendment to the project’s master agreement.
At the meeting the council adopted Resolution No. 17 accepting Nineteenth Street Trail Project Division 2 as complete and approved pay request No. 6 to Construct in the amount of $16,484.31; staff said the payment includes release of retainage to be made in 30 days. The council also approved an amendment to the project master agreement increasing the maximum fee by $2,100.
Councilmembers discussed adding more visible delineation between the road and the adjacent trail where the path runs alongside the street, citing winter visibility and parking encroachments. One resident urged bollards, paint or cone-type devices to prevent parking on the trail; staff said they have reviewed reflective bollard options and would continue to study solutions. Another resident raised safety concerns about debris left near the trail and snowmobile use in the area; staff said they will check whether the approved route allows snowmobile access and will work to clean debris.
The council approved the acceptance, payment and amendment by voice vote during the consent/regular agenda actions. Staff asked for and received direction to study delineation measures and debris cleanup for the trail area.
