At the Oct. 9 meeting planning staff updated the Caswell City Planning Commission on outreach and upcoming work, including conference attendance, the small-area plan public process, development of the water-conservation element of the general plan, and a vacant commissioner seat.
Staff said several commissioners and the city manager attended the American Planning Association conference and that staff will circulate information about the Utah Land Use Institute fall conference in Sandy this month for anyone who wants to attend. Staff asked the commission whether they had questions and said they would share registration details.
On the small-area plan, staff said the project held an open house and that results from both the first and second survey rounds had been compiled to show "what we've heard" and to identify missing items. Staff told the commission that the compiled information is available on the project website and that the comment period remains open through Nov. 2.
Staff also said the planning department has begun internal work on the water element (water conservation portion) of the general plan and expects to bring that draft to the planning commission in November for review and recommendation to the city council. Staff noted the Presbyterian Church rezone would go to city council the following week and that the Symphony Homes rezone will return to the Nov. 13 commission meeting.
Finally, staff reported the planning commissioner seat vacated by Miss Ellis remains unfilled; staff said they intend to bring a candidate to the city council for appointment but did not specify timing.
