The Pasco County MPO board on Oct. 9 approved an amendment to the fiscal year 2026–2030 Transportation Improvement Program to add funding for an interstate interchange improvement.
"The Florida Department of Transportation requests approval of a proposed amendment to the Pasco County MPO fiscal year 26 to 30 transportation improvement program," said Angel Villa, Pasco MPO staff, describing the FDOT proposal to add $135,149 in design funding and $1,420,936 in construction funding in fiscal year 2026. The work will widen and resurface the I‑75 southbound off‑ramp travel lanes and shoulders and provide dual left turn lanes from southbound I‑75 to eastbound County Road 54. The project also includes signing and pavement markings, signalization, drainage improvements and upgraded intersection lighting.
Board members moved the amendment, a second was recorded and the board approved the change by voice vote.
Why it matters: The project aims to improve capacity and vehicle flow at the I‑75/CR‑54 interchange, a location MPO members flagged as needing relief in committee reports. The amendment will be incorporated into the MPO TIP and forwarded to FDOT for programming.
Discussion vs. decision: MPO staff presented the amendment as an FDOT request (discussion/presentation). The board took formal action and approved the amendment (decision).
