A volunteer reported finding a disposal option charging about $200 per load or ton; the commission estimated roughly three to four loads would be required and moved to authorize up to $1,000 to ensure coverage for hauling and disposal.
A commissioner moved to approve the expenditure, a colleague seconded, and the motion was approved with those present voting “Aye.” The commission said it will work with the highway department to schedule pickup and use dump trucks to transport the material to the disposal company.
Commissioners thanked volunteers who removed the fencing and noted the work reduced safety and stewardship issues and allowed easier access to stone walls and trails. The commission will later review budget procedures to reconcile the expense and determine whether a transfer or formal budget adjustment is required.
