Superintendent Dr. Pucci delivered the district’s statutorily required annual report on high-school graduation pathways and gave updates on health reporting and the nursing services plan.
Nut graf: The report summarized how students met proficiency for graduation and explained why the nursing services plan approval will be delayed until the district completes a new state-recommended form. Administrators also shared building-level counts for required incident reports under state protocols.
Graduation pathways: Dr. Pucci said districts must report annually (by Sept. 30) on how seniors demonstrate proficiency under policy 5460. She reported 153 students graduated from Milford High School for the most recent graduating class. Of those, 126 met proficiency via the NJGPA (statewide assessment); two students used the PSAT; 15 used the portfolio appeals process; 10 met alternate requirements through Individualized Education Program (IEP) accommodations; and zero students were denied graduation for failing to meet requirements.
Nursing services and HIV reporting: The superintendent said the district typically seeks board approval for the nursing services plan in October after working through county/state reviews. After receiving a set of CUSAC recommendations in prior years, the state released a more encompassing nursing-plan form this year; staff requested time to prepare a complete submission, so the nursing plan will appear on the October agenda rather than the current meeting. On HIV incident reporting (form HIB-338 or similar incident reporting referenced): Dr. Pucci reported zero HIB forms at the high school, one HIB form at DEO that is currently under investigation, and zero at Berkeley and other elementary buildings as reported.
Quote: “We thought we had it ready to go, but I told the nurses not to rush it,” Dr. Pucci said of the nursing plan, describing new state guidance that lengthened staff review time.
Ending: The board placed the nursing-services plan and routine personnel items on the regular session agenda. The superintendent also announced two resignations on the personnel slate and publicly thanked departing staff; no disciplinary or personnel outcomes were discussed in open session.
