In a superintendent update Thursday, Los Altos School District leaders said they will form a short-term superintendent work group to address website updates and public communications tied to the district’s bond program.
The superintendent said the work group will be administrative and short-term, not requiring board approval because it will include no more than two board members. "It's really a superintendent work group," the superintendent said, noting that two trustees had expressed interest in participating.
The superintendent also said Grace Choi has led an AI work group for three weeks with students, parents and staff to draft an AI philosophy. The superintendent said the group will bring a refined document to the board in November. "Grace Choi has been leading our AI work group over the last 3 weeks ... That will be coming to you from the group in November," the superintendent said.
Staff and trustees also announced a personnel appointment. Carrie Bosco reported that the board approved the personnel assignment order to hire Dr. Valerie Rogers as the district’s director of food resources, with a November 1 start date. Bosco described Rogers as having more than 25 years of experience including classroom and district-level roles.
The superintendent said the district visited an elementary construction site in Palo Alto and will cancel the Oct. 27 board meeting because it conflicts with a countywide teacher-of-the-year celebration; the district will plan to hold the regular meeting on Oct. 13 instead unless a special meeting is needed.
No formal board action was required to form the superintendent work group or the AI work group; the personnel appointment was reflected in the approved personnel assignment order during the meeting.
