He said Tupelo currently has no rules limiting the placement or clustering of liquor stores and asked the council to “put common sense rules in place so they are limited to major commercial areas with proper spacing, buffers, and clear limits to protect neighborhoods.”
The city placed a set of proposed development‑code amendments on the study agenda that would define zoning classifications for brewpubs, microbreweries, liquor stores and convenience stores with fuel sales. Council members voted to keep the item on the timer for continued review; no ordinance or map change was adopted at the meeting.
