The Bay County special magistrate on Oct. 9 accepted code enforcement’s recommendation that property at 3102 Amanda Circle be ordered into compliance with Chapter 17 of the Bay County Code and set a 10‑day deadline to remove junk and limit derelict vehicles to one registered vehicle.
Code enforcement investigator Robert Clarkson told the magistrate he inspected the unincorporated Bayou George property after a complaint in April and found an abandoned mobile home, accessory structure, derelict vehicles with expired tags, and progressive overgrowth and dumped furniture. Clarkson testified the registered owner, Valerie Love Dale, had died at the home in February 2023 and that notices mailed to the registered owner were returned undeliverable. Clarkson said he later contacted the owner’s ex‑husband, who drove from Gainesville and said he was arranging grass mowing and removal or donation of the vehicles.
At the hearing, Eric Lobdall, who identified himself as the owner’s ex‑husband, told the magistrate, “We have made arrangements to have the grass mowed and the vehicles we’ve donated to the veterans,” and said he would try to secure title for the sons and move vehicles off site. Code enforcement recommended the magistrate set a 10‑day compliance period for removal of junk and debris, reduction to one derelict vehicle that must be registered or removed, and daily fines if the order is not obeyed. The magistrate accepted that recommendation and advised the parties the case will return at a compliance hearing scheduled for Nov. 20 at 1 p.m.; code enforcement offered telephonic appearance options for the family.
Why it matters: the property is on a repeat enforcement track stemming from the owner’s death, a lack of probate and difficulty locating responsible parties. The county’s written recommendation included an initial fine of $200 and a daily fine of $25 after the 10‑day period if the property is not brought into compliance. The magistrate urged the respondents to stay in contact with the assigned code enforcement officer to report progress or delays.
