The Lakeville Parks Commission voted Oct. 9 to set the per-person park fee for the 2026 Grama Prix TriFest at $8.
Commissioners said the event — a swim-bike-run that starts at 7:30 a.m. with setup on the preceding Friday — remains the commission’s largest annual activity and that the fee this year, $4,600 in total, is slightly lower than in past years. Commissioners also discussed a request by Lupin Lodge to be compensated for lost wedding bookings; Lupin Lodge asked for $2,000 to cover lost revenue if TriFest uses the lodge parking and staging areas.
Commission members reviewed the TriFest application, confirmed the event’s route (swim in Loon Pond, bike through Lakeville and surrounding towns, run to finish), and noted that planned setup on Friday and race hours on Saturday (roughly 7:30 a.m. to noon) should not conflict with other park users. Commissioners discussed whether Lupin Lodge would be used this year after the lodge indicated it would seek compensation; they said they would try to work out that issue before next year.
A motion to approve the 25th annual TriFest at an $8 per-head fee was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote; the minutes record unanimous “Aye” responses and show the motion passed.
Commissioners noted that TriFest’s use of Lupin Lodge parking affects the lodge’s ability to host weddings on the same weekend and said the lodge and event organizer should work toward an arrangement for future years. No additional permits or legal authorities were cited during the discussion.
The commission did not record a roll-call tally in the minutes; the motion was approved by voice vote. The commission did not set a follow-up action beyond attempting to resolve the Lupin Lodge compensation question before the next TriFest cycle.
