John Hudson, Buncombe County budget director, presented a budget amendment to appropriate $861,488 from the NC 911 fund balance and interfund revenue to purchase 911 consoles and components for fire-station alerting.
Hudson said state guidance encourages the use of 911 fund balance to realize additional funding for technology upgrades in the 911 fund and that the amendment would fund consoles and related hardware for better dispatch and alerting capabilities.
Commissioner Whitesides moved to approve the budget amendment; Commissioner Sloan seconded. The motion carried on an affirmative voice vote.
Hudson and commissioners did not propose further immediate actions in the meeting beyond executing the purchases authorized by the amendment.
