Josephine County approves quitclaim deeds and two land-sale contracts after September sheriff’s auctions

Josephine County commissioners on Oct. 9 confirmed sheriff’s certificates of sale from September auctions and approved execution of quitclaim deeds and two land-sale contracts for multiple parcels.

During the meeting, county staff read the list of properties sold at the September 2025 auction and asked the board to confirm distribution of proceeds, execute quitclaim deeds to buyers and approve land-sale contracts where applicable. Commissioners voted unanimously on a bundled motion to authorize the deeds and contracts.

The list read into the record included quitclaim deeds to buyers for parcel numbers R301478 (Oxy Oak Road), R300465 (Coyote Creek Road), R327255 (Lakeshore Drive), R300248 (Lower Wolf Creek Road), R329388 (309 Josephine Road), R305764 (West Pickett Creek Road), and R305780 (West Pickett Creek Road). The board also approved land-sale contracts and memoranda of contract sale to Clint and Sierra Nation for R322975 (Board Shanty Road) and to Dean Davis for R301117 (Lower Graves Creek Road). County staff said each property was sold at the September 2025 auction.

County staff asked the board to bundle the items to expedite action; a motion to approve the quitclaim deeds and contracts was made and seconded, and the roll call returned yes votes from Commissioner Smith, Commissioner Barnett and Commissioner Black. The board recorded the motions as carried 3-0.

Why it matters: The approvals transfer county-owned parcels sold at sheriff’s auction into private ownership and authorize distribution of sale proceeds. The items were presented as routine follow-through on auction results; the board did not record additional discussion or amendments to the contracts during the meeting.

The board approved the consent calendar and other routine items later in the session; there were no recorded public objections to the individual property sales during the meeting.
