Board members and district staff told the Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education on Oct. 8 that phase 1 of the district's capital project included vestibule installations and playground work at multiple schools and that related infrastructure work took place over the summer.
"We were very busy this summer with phase 1 of the construction," Mr. Kaye, who presented business and financial items, said during the board reports. He listed vestibules and work at the education center, and noted boilers at the high school and Smith Club were addressed in the recent work. Mr. Kaye said phase 2 bids are out now and "we expect the bids back later this month," with phase 2 work anticipated to begin before next summer.
Board member Mr. Reynolds summarized recent visitation-site meetings, saying he visited Pine Tree and observed a new vestibule and a new playground. He also reported a new interactive "active floor" and a new gym floor at the middle school; bleachers were expected in December. The visitation report included discussion of camera updates, cafeteria equipment, and potential exterior fencing and soccer nets for play areas.
District representatives said multiple playgrounds are now open. The meeting record did not include a vote on new capital funding or specific contract awards; Mr. Kaye said only that bids for phase 2 were out and returned later in the month. Board members encouraged public presentations planned for later in October and a likely public presentation in early November.
No specific bid amounts, vendor names for phase 2, or funding-source breakdowns were provided in the Oct. 8 meeting record.
