Public works reports: clinic and fire-modular moves, freshwater-treatment complete, tanks near finish

City staff updated council on several public-works construction and utility projects, reporting mid‑October targets for two modular moves and completion milestones on water and wastewater infrastructure.

Public works staff said the clinic contractor expects to finish construction by mid‑October (contractor estimate: September; staff allowance: add two weeks). Staff noted an additional month will be needed for the hospital to install equipment and for interior setup before the clinic is operational. The modular fire station move is on a similar timeline.

The freshwater waste treatment project is complete; the project manager from Aqua Technics and consultant Herrera will prepare a post-project report. Staff said they are scheduling a freshwater waste town hall, separate from a streets town hall, and that a stormwater rate study will be included in that discussion.

Two 1,000,000‑gallon DN tanks are nearly finished; staff noted a dome vent delivery issue earlier in the project but reported that the tanks “look brand new” and should be demobilized within weeks. For wastewater, staff said the head screen — an item the council approved a few weeks earlier — is now being manufactured; the screen removes large improperly flushed items ahead of treatment.

Additional items: convention center soffit painting was reported to be nearly finished (about three weeks remaining), and a new electronic convention-center sign is under manufacture with expanded programming capability for staff.

Staff said they will bring post-construction reports and a schedule for the freshwater town hall to council when available.
