Pocatello Fire Union reports new aerial apparatus, wildfire deployments and fundraisers

Christiansen said the new tractor‑drawn aerial (tiller) will require specialized training and several months before full service; the department expects a public ribbon-cutting. He described recent mutual-aid staffing sent to Coeur d’Alene for the Canfield incident and noted many local firefighters participated in extended wildland deployments in Nevada and California this season, generating overtime revenue and field experience.
The union reported a breast-cancer awareness shirt fundraiser sold at Break for Breakfast, with proceeds — about $5,000 — earmarked for patient travel and lodging assistance through the local cancer center. Officials also noted ongoing firefighter participation in regional fundraisers (stair climb, fill the boot) and emphasized community service and training value from deployments.
Councilors praised the department’s performance and partnership with other agencies. The update was informational; no council action was taken.
