The Yuba City Council approved three community sponsorship requests, each for up to $1,000, to support local organizations and events.
Sierra Wakefield, a city staff member presenting the requests, told the council the sponsors were Yuba City High School baseball boosters (bleacher upgrade fundraising), Trees & Traditions (annual fundraiser for the Sutter County Memorial Museum), and a joint YSEDC–Sutter County event titled the Bounty of Sutter County (a business appreciation dinner). Wakefield said the sponsorships would come from existing community-events accounts and that each request was for $1,000.
Coach Mori, representing Yuba City High School baseball, described the bleacher upgrade as a capital need to replace portable seating with an ADA-compliant grandstand and said a dedicated account exists for that project. Wakefield confirmed that the Trees & Traditions sponsorship includes event tickets and that the Bounty of Sutter County sponsorship provides a table (Wakefield and staff said the sponsor receives a table of eight).
Mayor Dave Shaw moved to approve all three sponsorships and the council voted in favor; the motion carried with all members saying "Aye." The council did not add conditions to the sponsorships during the vote.
The city staff reported remaining balances in the community accounts after the action: one account with $9,000 remaining and another community-events account with $5,500 remaining for the fiscal year, according to Wakefield's presentation.
