Local organizer gets OK for charity disc golf tournament at Kinslow course

Resident organizer Chase Netting told the Sunbury City Events & Commemorations Committee on Aug. 19 that he plans to hold a charity disc golf tournament at Kinslow Disc Golf Course to raise money for a house-building project in Mexico.
"My name is Chase Netting. Address, 4461 Webster Road. And my event is a charity disc golf tournament, raising money for, to build a house in Mexico for a family in need," Netting said.
Netting said the event is his first as organizer and that he expects 40 to 70 participants, with a maximum of 72, and a $50 entry fee; he said the registration fee will go toward the fundraiser and that he plans modest on-site concessions and a small 10-by-10 tent. "Around 40 to 70, max of 72," Netting said of expected turnout. "I think the price I've set now is $50, and that goes all that goes straight towards, the fundraiser."
Staff and committee members reviewed the application and confirmed there were trash cans on the course and at the pavilion and that applicants are expected to remove excess trash. Committee staff reported the application had passed through services, fire and police reviews with no objections. "This application has passed through services, fire, and police with no objection. Okay. So you are good to go on that side," a staff member said.
No formal vote was recorded in the transcript; staff indicated the application cleared internal review and the organizer may proceed with the event under the usual permit conditions.
Netting said he has an event page on Disc Golf Scene and will promote the event on social media and at local doubles night. He said his fundraising target for the larger project was told to be $12,000 to $15,000, though he has not selected a lot in Mexico yet.
