The McCall City Council proclaimed Oct. 23 as "Lights On After School Day," a national initiative highlighting the need for after-school programs, and approved two committee appointments.

Meg Lojek, library director, asked the council to proclaim Oct. 23; she described local after-school programs and said both library programs filled immediately with wait lists. Council approved the proclamation by unanimous roll call.

The council also approved Patrick O'Kernick's appointment to the McCall Public Library Board of Trustees (term expiring Oct. 2027). Patrick introduced himself at the meeting and described his background in education and community service. The appointment carried in a unanimous roll call vote.

Finally, the council approved reappointment of Avi Azawari to a three-year term on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (term expiring October 2028); the parks staff and existing committee recommended retaining Azawari for continuity and leadership. That motion passed unanimously.
