HSAC delays final appointments, schedules July 11 meeting and July work session to review 10 applications

Randy (HSAC coordinator) told the council the HSAC received 10 new applications and that three current members — including himself, Julia and Linda — had reapplied. Randy recommended two of the three reviewed applicants and said he would interview the remaining candidates before the council made final recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.
The council discussed timelines. Monica (county staff) said it would be preferable for the Board of County Commissioners to receive one consolidated set of recommendations rather than staggered submissions. Council members agreed to move the regular July meeting from July 4 to July 11 to allow time for interviews and asked Monica to take the consolidated recommendations to the board’s July 24 work session if calendars allowed.
Randy asked for volunteer help with applicant screening. Grant volunteered to join Randy in conducting interviews for the next round of applicants. The council also confirmed that, under their bylaws, incumbents may continue to serve until vacancies are filled.
Why it matters: HSAC membership determines the advisory council’s composition and affects its capacity to review behavioral-health grants and local programs. Council members said they prefer presenting one complete slate of recommendations to county commissioners rather than staggered submissions.
Follow-up: Randy will complete interviews for four pending applicants, then present all recommendations at the council’s July meeting so the county can forward a consolidated slate to the commissioners for consideration at the July work session.
