Council approves variance for 6-foot fence at 506 North Charter

City staff reported that the Planning and Zoning Board held a public hearing on Aug. 18 and unanimously recommended approval. The city code provision cited by staff was City of Monticello Code section 153.077(a), which allows a resident to request a variance for a fence in the front-yard setback.
Council members moved and seconded the ordinance and approved it by roll call. The council’s packet included the PZB motion, a vicinity map and project exhibits. Staff said granting the variance would not be detrimental to public health, safety or the orderly development of surrounding properties.
No conditions or amendments to the variance were recorded in the council proceeding. The motion passed on the council’s roll call.
