During audience participation at the Oct. 8 Beaver County work session, a resident raised multiple concerns about the county's recent property reassessment process and associated appeals.

The resident said the reassessment contained errors, including parcels categorized incorrectly and lot sizes misrecorded. She said she found some multi‑unit properties listed as single‑family homes and reported inconsistent lot‑size entries, adding that those discrepancies affected tax bills. The resident also said she had previously raised the issue and believed changes discussed earlier had not been implemented.

The resident said she attempted to file an appeal and that the appeal hearing had been continued because only two board members were present, and she worried the delay could force her to wait another year to have the matter resolved. A county staff member offered to speak with the resident after the meeting.

The resident also criticized the law library's usefulness for lay residents, saying that library staff could do more to help visitors find forms and guidance even if they cannot provide legal advice.

County staff replied that property assessment appeals involve statutory timelines and specialized procedures and that staff would follow up directly with the resident about filing requirements and next steps.
