County awards $68,472 contract to upgrade electrical service at Liberty water tank

The Board of County Commissioners approved a $68,472.40 contract on Oct. 9 to upgrade the electrical service at the Liberty water storage tank in Commissioner District 5.
Procurement staff said the award to Control Systems 21 of Dillsburg, Pa., was made under a competitively bid term contract and that the bid amount falls within the department’s adopted budget. County utilities staff said the electrical work is preparatory for converting previously unused space inside the storage tank into a booster pump station to improve water distribution.
Commissioners asked about water quality and contaminants and were told the county is monitoring issues such as PFAS and that current water quality is acceptable. The board approved the award by voice vote.
