MUNCIE, Ind. — The Muncie Unsafe Building Hearing Authority modified a demolition order to a rehabilitation order for 2017 North Glenwood Avenue on Sept. 11, continuing the case for 60 days and ordering an inspection before the next hearing.
A representative for Wilson Acquisitions said structural and interior items — including a sagging living-room ceiling, chimney leaks, broken doors and rotted exterior wood — were already scheduled for repair with vendors and contractors. She said some items had been repaired and others were in the contractor queue.
The authority asked that licensed electricians and HVAC contractors be used for electrical and mechanical work. The motion to affirm the demolition order but continue it for 60 days with an inspection prior to the next hearing was amended in discussion to modify the action to a rehabilitation order and require scheduled inspections; the motion carried by voice vote.
Staff asked that the owner present evidence of licensed trades and confirmed vendor schedules at the next hearing; the owner said some repairs were complete and vendors were scheduled for the remainder.
