Board records annual MDE verification and accepts several donations

The Houston Public School District board formally recorded completion of its annual verification of district and school-site information for MDE reporting and accepted a resolution to receive several community donations.

Board members said they and district staff reviewed and updated staff listings and roles in the district's site information and that the verification was a routine, required step. The item was presented as a formality and documented for public record.

Trustees also considered a resolution accepting donations. The board's resolution accepted $1,750 donated to the district backpack program by an organization named in the record and a $100 donation to an after-prom committee. Meeting minutes note that the after-prom committee is a separate entity from Houston Public Schools and that the board amended the acceptance accordingly to reflect that distinction.

A motion to accept the resolution and to note completion of the MDE verification passed in open session.
