The resolution, read into the record by a court member, summarized the foundation's work since its creation in 1995 with proceeds from the sale of Providence Memorial Hospital, citing more than $266 million invested in grants and charitable programs across the bi‑national region. The foundation's efforts listed in the resolution included health promotion and disease prevention initiatives, campaigns to increase physical activity, school garden and nutrition programs, mental‑health stigma reduction and workforce and early‑childhood supports.
Audrey Garcia, a program officer for the foundation, thanked the court for the recognition. Michael Kelly, the foundation's vice president of programs, told the court, "As the Health Foundation celebrates 30 years, we remain committed to partnership with the court and to build a healthier El Paso County." Kelly highlighted ongoing work on diabetes management, smoke‑free policy promotion and community emergency response during the COVID‑19 pandemic and the Aug. 3 mass‑shooting response.
The court recorded a motion from Judge Ricardo Samaniego and a second from Commissioner Butler; the vote carried with Commissioner Coronado absent.
