The St. Louis Board of Aldermen adopted Resolution 127 on Friday to honor Chelsea Murtaugh for her service as a legislative assistant in the Seventh Ward and her contributions to city initiatives.

The resolution, introduced by the Alderwoman from the Seventh Ward and read aloud by the clerk, cited Murtaugh's work since August 2023, her legal education, advocacy on reproductive-justice issues, neighborhood engagement, and participation in drafting and supporting city legislation, including the Tax Accountability and Development Act and housing measures. The resolution noted that Murtaugh attended more than 500 neighborhood meetings, helped execute eight town halls and filed more than 350 Citizen Service Bureau requests.

Members offered personal remarks on the floor, praising her community outreach, legislative support and volunteer work. "You have been there and you have been unwavering and you have stayed principled," the Alderwoman from the Seventh Ward said in address to Murtaugh.

The board voted to "bank" the resolution and later carried the motion to make it in bank; the adoption was announced on the record and members gathered for a picture after the floor action.

The resolution directs the clerk to spread a copy in the minutes and to prepare a commemorative copy to be presented at a time designated by the sponsor. It does not create legal rights or obligations beyond the formal recognition recorded in the minutes.
