The Tupelo City Council approved awarding a purchase to Insight LPR LLC to provide additional license‑plate reader units for the police department, using federal grant funds.
City staff told the council the Tupelo Police Department received a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice and earmarked $125,000 of that award to buy additional license‑plate readers and related equipment for a new command center. City staff said the procurement used an express products list through the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services to streamline the purchase.
Steven (city staff) told the council, “we are requesting that the council award that contract to Insight LPR LLC,” and the council approved the award. The item was added to the agenda earlier in the meeting as an amendment naming Insight LPR LLC the lowest and best response to the solicitation.
The council approved the purchase during the study agenda. No public comment or recorded abstentions were included in the meeting minutes; the transcript records the council vote as in favor.
