Tupelo council approves Park Hill residential overlay and rezones two parcels to mixed-use corridor

The Tupelo City Council on Sept. 2 unanimously approved a development code amendment creating a residential overlay district for the Park Hill neighborhood and separately amended the official zoning map to rezone two parcels from agricultural/open space to mixed‑use commercial corridor.

Council members said the Park Hill overlay is intended to improve the appearance and character of that neighborhood. The council voted on the overlay district during its action agenda and then approved the rezoning of parcels 084 S 1801000 and 084 U 1900800 at the same meeting; both motions passed unanimously.

During discussion of the overlay, a council member said the measure would “help improve the appearance of our area” and expressed general support for continuing improvements in the park area. No formal conditions or amendments to either action were recorded in the public minutes.

The rezoning vote moved two parcels from agricultural/open space to mixed‑use commercial corridor on the official zoning map. The council did not record any separate amendments to the rezoning motion in the public session.

Both items were handled as part of the council’s action agenda and were approved by roll call with no recorded opposing votes.
