Winnsboro Main Street to expand advisory board to nine members; appointments start Oct. 1

Winnsboro Main Street’s director said the advisory board will expand to the full nine members allowed under the program’s bylaws and that applications will be posted on Facebook and Instagram and available at the Main Street office at 101 North Main.

“We intend to fill the board according to the bylaws,” the director said, and added that the ideal start date for new members is Oct. 1 to align with the new fiscal year. She said the board has two‑term limits for members and that longtime member Carl will cycle off after this meeting; she invited Carl to serve as an advisor if he is willing.

The director said she will accept hard-copy applications at the office, will email application materials on request and will evaluate candidates before appointing new members. Board members discussed whether to delay changing the meeting day and time until after the new members are seated; the director proposed moving the regular meeting to Wednesdays at 4 p.m. to reduce conflicts with weekday work schedules and to avoid overlap with city council, but the board agreed to table a formal change until they have input from incoming appointees.

The director also noted that board term limits allow members to serve two consecutive terms and that the board plans to assign two members per committee to spread volunteer workload.

No formal votes on board expansion or meeting-time change were recorded at this meeting; the director said she will handle appointments and logistics directly.
