Student reporter Grace Clark told the board on Oct. 15 about athletic events, club activity and programs at North Bend High School, noting wins and upcoming games and highlighting opportunities for students to earn college credit through online classes.
"We have high hopes for the game, not only to win, but to also get a great student section together to cheer our girls on," Clark said, describing volleyball, football, soccer and cross-country results and upcoming home games and themed events.
In staff reports, district representatives said open houses have been well attended across the schools and that custodial staffing had been a pressure point earlier in the year. The board recognized custodial staff members by name and highlighted a series of "extra mile" nominations. Staff described custodians who deep-cleaned the culinary classroom and paraprofessionals who supported resource-room organization and small-group instruction.
The board's education-association report noted changes in staffing and new assignments that contributed to a bumpy start for some teachers but called out positive community response to open houses and several staff nominated for recognition.
One board member asked staff to consider a short survey of employees to gather feedback about the interim superintendent and district priorities; the board discussed moving forward with a formal OSBA process for board development and goal setting.
