Commissioners accepted staff—s assessment that the kitchen, bathroom, hallway and one bedroom were cleared to make the home habitable, but staff and the resident agreed to ongoing work on three remaining rooms and continuing pest-control measures. The commission required follow-up inspections and asked staff to report progress at the December 10 meeting, with interim check-ins in November.
At the meeting staff said the dumpster servicing is being rotated when full, that a new empty dumpster had been delivered earlier in the week and that pest control would treat the exterior perimeter and around the on-site dumpster. The resident said she would continue working and requested assistance; staff said they would monitor the cleanup, rotate dumpsters, and coordinate pest-control scheduling.
Commissioners and staff discussed the risk of complacency if the return were delayed; staff said they will follow up every few weeks and perform additional inspections. The formal motion to lift the condemnation included the condition that documented progress continue and that staff report back on pest control and remaining cleanup at the Dec. 10 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
A neighbor spoke during public comment to complain about persistent odors and nuisance from the temporary dumpsters; staff said the dumpsters will remain while cleanup proceeds and that the commission had asked for regular pickup to minimize odors. The commission encouraged neighbors to contact staff with continuing concerns and asked staff to track dumpster pickups and pest-control visits.
