District outlines pool-use agreement with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories after aquatic center sale

Pullman School District staff told the board on Sept. 24 that the district will enter a use agreement with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) following the sale of the aquatic center to ensure continued access for school swim teams, lessons and other programs.
Food-service and facilities staff presented the plan and described coordination with the city and SEL to preserve existing practice times and swim-lesson schedules. "Upon completion of the sale of the aquatic center, Pullman Schools will enter an agreement with SEL to ensure the continued access and use of the facility," Justin Polstead said. He said the intent is to keep operations "streamlined so that nobody notices anything" and that current practice times for swim teams and student access will be maintained under the drafted agreement.
Board members asked for confirmation that access levels would remain the same; staff affirmed the agreement language specifies the same practice times and access for students, and noted an existing agreement with the city will transition to SEL as owner. The board did not vote on the agreement at the meeting; staff said implementation steps will follow completion of the sale and the formal contract with SEL.
