Board approves small increases to adult school meal prices to maintain compliance

The Pullman School District Board of Directors voted Sept. 24 to increase adult school-meal prices by 30 cents for breakfast and 20 cents for lunch to meet program compliance and offset rising food costs, district food-service staff said.
Food-service manager Justin Polstead told the board rising food costs required an adjustment for adult meal pricing but stressed student meal prices were unchanged. "To stay in compliance, we need to bump up our adult meals by 30¢ for breakfast and 20¢ for lunch for our adults," Polstead said. Board members noted some urgency and moved the item from discussion to action; the motion to approve the price increases passed by voice vote.
The change will be applied to adult meal purchases (visitors, staff or other nonstudent purchases) and district staff will update meal-pricing information communicated to the public and staff. No changes were made to student breakfast or lunch prices.
