The Pullman School District board voted Sept. 24 to adopt Policy 51.61 (Civility in the Workplace), a discretionary policy recommended by the Washington State Association of School Directors (WASDA), board staff said.
Human-resources and administrative staff reviewed the draft policy at a prior meeting and received suggested language from legal counsel. "This is a WASDA recommended policy. It's discretionary," staff said, and added the district incorporated counsel suggestions to strengthen language aimed at supporting positive working relationships and reducing conflict.
A motion to approve Policy 51.61 passed on a voice vote; no board member voiced opposition. The policy will be added to the district policy manual and communicated to staff as part of district human-resources procedures.
