Board approves revisions to student-discipline policy following state updates

The Pullman School District Board of Directors approved revisions to Policy 32.41 (Student Discipline) on Sept. 24 to align district procedures with recent changes in Washington state law and administrative rules, the board voted.
Superintendent Dr. Maxwell and staff said the revisions primarily clarified language and adjusted the discipline matrix to conform to Washington RCWs and WACs that govern student discipline. "There have been some changes with Washington State RCWs and WACs... we spoke about this at the last board meeting," Dr. Maxwell said. Board members had no further questions before moving the policy to a vote.
The motion to approve revisions to Policy 32.41 passed on a voice vote. Board members said the revisions were reviewed in prior meetings and the latest draft included clarifications suggested by legal counsel and staff.
The board did not take any further amendments; staff will incorporate the approved revisions into the district policy manual and the discipline procedures used by administrators.
