The Shelton Board of Aldermen presented an official proclamation recognizing the city flag to volunteer and committee member Joe Sakone. The proclamation formalizes the flag that was unveiled at Shelton Bay and is displayed at Veterans Park and on a city flagpole, the president said.
The president and other aldermen praised Sakone’s research and outreach to the historical society, library and schools, and said the flag-adoption process involved community input. The president said a second phase will install interior plaques and that copies of the proclamation will be placed in aldermen mailboxes and in the official records.
