The Coconut Creek City Commission on Oct. 9 approved on first reading an ordinance that raises off‑duty police detail rates by $10 across several categories.
City public safety adviser Jeanette Camacho told the commission the change aligns off‑duty pay with the newly negotiated collective bargaining agreement and adjusts internal detail rates. Camacho said police service aide and police officer regular rates rise from $60 to $70; supervisor regular rates rise from $70 to $80. Holiday rates increase from $75 to $85 for officers/service aides, and supervisors will move from $90 to $100.
The ordinance (No. 2025-49) amends the city code, chapter 2 administration, article 3 departments, division 2 police department, section 2-57, to update fees for the use of off‑duty police officers and police service aids. The item was presented for first reading; Commissioner Welch moved the ordinance and Commissioner Brody seconded. The commission approved the first reading by roll-call vote with all members voting "Yes."
City staff did not present separate cost estimates for the change at the meeting; Camacho characterized the rate adjustments as the only change required by the new contract. The ordinance was advanced for a subsequent reading where the commission may adopt it formally.
