At a special called meeting Thursday evening, the Oldham County Board of Education voted 5-0 to maintain the district's existing tax rates, board members said.
Ms. Alexander, a district staff member who presented the figures, told the board, "The current real and tangible personal property tax rate is 81.2." She said the district's motor vehicle rate is "64.3¢ for a 100 and assessed value" and the utilities rate is 3 percent. After reviewing anticipated budget increases for salaries, benefits and inflation, Alexander recommended adopting the same rates rather than raising them.
The presiding officer noted the session was a public hearing "pursuant to KRS 160.470" and said there were no members of the public present to comment. The board then voted to approve the action item as presented; the presiding officer called for the motion, which was made by Mrs. Clem and seconded by Mrs. Sheffer, and recorded the vote as 5-0 in favor.
Board members raised no questions during the presentation, and the meeting concluded quickly: Mrs. Sheffer moved to adjourn, Mr. Dodson seconded, and the board voted 5-0 to adjourn. A staff member later noted the meeting record as approximately three minutes in length.
The hearing took place at the Arvin Education Center. The board did not receive public comments during the hearing, and no further directions or follow-up tasks were stated on the record.
