City planning staff told the Zoning Board of Adjustment on Oct. 9 that several alternates’ terms are expiring and that the mayor intends to nominate replacements, and the board recorded that member John Herr has stepped down.

Vicky, a city staff member, told the board that Alicia, Kelly, Haven and Mike have terms that are up and that the mayor plans to forward appointments for confirmation; she said the mayor will also appoint at least one citizen to the Planning Commission and is reviewing candidate forms for one remaining vacancy. Vicky noted Mike will continue serving until a replacement is seated but that the mayor declined to reappoint him.

Vicky also reported that John Herr “has officially stepped down from the meeting” and that his departure created a seat the mayor will fill. Board members discussed that quorum and vote requirements affect scheduling: an applicant requested a two-week continuance for item 3 because a full six-member affirmative vote is required for a variance and the board did not have all six voting members present.

Board member Haven moved to continue item 3 to Oct. 23; Mike seconded and the motion passed. After the business was complete the board adjourned.

The board did not take formal action on appointments; staff said the mayor will announce nominations and that the affected alternates should watch for notifications about confirmation to the Planning Commission.
