Public works reports nearly $95,000 spent on emergency storm sewer repairs at East River and Webster Avenue

Staff explained the high cost was driven by river work requirements: permits, a cofferdam to keep river water out of the work area and dewatering. "The Coffer Dam itself was $33,000 and 500," a Public Works staff member said, and the project required additional work because river levels were above the storm‑sewer invert and the repair was adjacent to a building.
The department reported it has about $400,000 in the storm sewer capital fund for emergency repairs and that typical repairs are much smaller ($10,000–$20,000), so the department remains within its budget for such work. The committee voted to receive and place the report on file.
