Wichita County authorizes purchase of 915 Ninth Street for juvenile program

The purchase motion was made by Commissioner Watts and seconded by Commissioner Beauchamp; the court approved the action unanimously, 5-0. The item followed a closed session under Texas Government Code section 551.072 for deliberations about real property.
County officials said the acquisition will be paid from funds the juvenile board holds — fines, fees and related reimbursements — and not from general property-tax revenues. Commissioners discussed that renovation costs would be evaluated later and said the juvenile board could fund those improvements.
The court went into closed session at about 10:31 a.m. and returned to open session at about 10:57 a.m., after which the purchase authorization was made. With the vote recorded, the court adjourned at 11 a.m.
Next steps discussed by commissioners included completing closing paperwork and later reporting back to the court on renovation plans and costs.
