Delaware County Election Board approves vote-center plan with county building, two fairgrounds Saturdays

DELAWARE COUNTY, Sept. 8, 2025 — The Delaware County Election Board on Monday approved a plan to operate early voting at the county building and to add two Saturday early‑voting sessions at the county fairgrounds, with the clerk saying final implementation awaits state approval.

Rick, the clerk of the courts, who presented the plan, said the additional early‑voting sessions at the fairgrounds will follow the same hours as the county building: “We will be open from 08:30 to 4 because we go by the same hours that the county building voting is open.” The clerk said, for now, early voting will be at the county building and the two Saturdays at the fairgrounds and that the plan must go to the state for final approval before locations are posted online.

During public comment, Sherry Reagan, a resident who gave a home address, asked about a potential scheduling conflict for an April 18 Saturday reservation at the fairgrounds and whether that date would be covered. “I’m here on behalf of a young lady who has an issue on April 18,” Reagan said. The clerk responded that the fairgrounds had been contacted and that the fair board was aware of the extra time; the clerk said two new locations had been made aware and that most locations were previous sites used by the county.

Linda Hansen of the League of Women Voters praised the plan’s progress. “I am really pleased that this has gotten, this plan has gotten this far,” Hansen said, thanking the board for its work.

A commenter who identified himself as a newsman and author, Ricky Muncy, urged the board to publish a list of vote centers and the number of sites available. “I would hope you make it clear and get this up online as soon as possible,” Muncy said, and added that the change “is going to be state law shortly” and noted the county’s adoption relative to other counties.

Board members and the clerk said they would post the final list of approved sites online after the state gives final approval. The board adjourned shortly after the vote.
