On Sept. 30 the City of Falls City council adopted the fiscal year 2024-25 budget and approved several related actions, including a property tax request of $782,500 and an annual transfer of $800,000 from the capital improvement fund to the general fund.
A city staff member told the council the adopted budget reflects the budget committee’s recommendation and that the levy amount is slightly reduced even though the city will see a net increase “of a little over $9,000” overall. The council also authorized the final allocation to the Falls City Airport Authority for fiscal year 2024-25 as requested; the transcript did not clearly state the dollar amount of that allocation.
Council members moved and seconded the measures and each motion passed on a 5-0 vote. The transfer from the capital improvement fund was described as a reallocation of sales-tax-derived dollars to support general fund operations “throughout the year up to that $800,000,” according to the staff member.
Taken together, the actions set the city’s official property tax request for the fiscal year, confirm the city’s internal allocations to a locally governed airport authority, and permit the city finance staff to shift up to $800,000 from capital reserves into operating funds during the coming fiscal year. The council adjourned after the votes.
