Plan Commission approves extraterritorial preliminary plat for Bowers Country Plat Second Edition

City of Marshfield Plan Commission members voted unanimously Tuesday to approve an extraterritorial preliminary plat for Bowers Country Plat Second Edition, a proposed subdivision in the Town of Spencer.
Bryce Henbrook, city planner, told the commission the proposed subdivision sits within the city's three-mile extraterritorial plat review area and is intended for review to avoid future conflicts with city growth plans. "City staff was... supportive of recommending approval of this extraterritorial preliminary plat as presented," Henbrook said.
The parcel described by Henbrook lies along the west side of Laurene Drive and consists of lots roughly matching the existing lot pattern; some lots were noted at about 1.33 acres. Henbrook said the plat will still have to meet the Town of Spencer and Marathon County requirements, and any applicable statutory requirements. The commission opened and closed a public hearing with no public comments.
Commissioner Michael moved to approve the plat; Jocelyn seconded. In a roll-call vote Mayor Teasdrake, Council member O'Reilly, Commissioner Bernardi, Commissioner Frederick, Commissioner Michael and Commissioner Caprillion each voted "yes." The motion carried.
The plan commission's approval is a recommendation under the city's extraterritorial review authority; the subdivision must still satisfy requirements and approvals from the Town of Spencer, Marathon County and any state statutes that apply. The commission record will note the approval and the city will not take further action unless subsequent submissions or jurisdictional requirements prompt review.
